FAQ for SCOPE Alliance Members
1. Why is SCOPE Alliance scaling back activities and for how long?
SCOPE Alliance has played an important role in helping to enable and promote the availability of open carrier grade base platforms on Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) hardware / software and Free Open Source Software (FOSS) building blocks, and to promote interoperability to better support Service Providers and Consumers. Now that the Carrier Grade base platform has standardized and the market has change, SCOPE Alliance has decided to scale back activities for a period of one year and will reevaluate at the end of 2012 or until a new technology emerges that fits within the mission and scope of their work. SCOPE has accomplished it mission.
2. What does “Hibernation Mode” mean for SCOPE Alliance?
In hibernation mode, SCOPE Alliance maintains its legal incorporated status as well as its Intellectual property and copyrighted material. All SCOPE Alliance information products will continue to be available on its public website to all members in good standing as of 12/31/2011.
3. Will SCOPE Alliance continue any activities?
Although there will be no continued membership initiatives or activity, the SCOPE Alliance Board will meet periodically to consider providing support to relevant industry initiatives. Additionally, SCOPE Alliance will continue to sponsor related industry events to enhance its brand.
4. When will this take effect?
January 1, 2012.
5. Will the website stay online?
Yes, the public website as well as the Member’s Area will continue to be available and updated on a minimal basis.
6. Will SCOPE Alliance be accepting new memberships?
During “hibernation” SCOPE Alliance will not be accepting new memberships; however, the organization is open to new ideas and thoughts about where the market is going and where you think SCOPE Alliance would best fit into that new marketplace. 9. Is SCOPE Alliance planning a formal press release or other media outreach?
SCOPE Alliance will not be issuing a press release, any formal statement to the media or noting this in its social media. We will, however, respond to any media inquiries re-actively.
