Piscataway, New Jersey, September 12, 2007 - The SCOPE Alliance, an association of leading Network Equipment Providers (NEPs), is pleased to announce the availability of version 2.0 of its Middleware Profile.
The release of the Middleware Profile v2.0 by the SCOPE Alliance along with previously published Reference Architecture, and profiles (Middleware v1.0, ATCA, AMC, and Operating System) provides the Carrier Grade Base Platforms / COTS ecosystem (consumers & suppliers, specifications setting bodies, and the Open Source community) with comprehensive guidance regarding the creation of interoperable Carrier Grade Base Platforms for NEPs and Systems Integrators.
The new Middleware Profile v2.0 builds on the foundation laid with, and is a companion document to, version 1.0. Version 1.0 prioritized the major services already specified by the SA Forum. Version 2.0 of the profile adds to Version 1.0 by clearly identifying perceived gaps in the current specifications published by the SAForum. This profile is expected to help the ecosystem follow a NEP focused roadmap leading to accelerated availability of interoperable Carrier Grade Base Platforms.

Improvements to hardware management (HPI), Trace service, and Comprehensive MW statistics and measurements were all ranked as high priority gaps.
