New Profiles from SCOPE Alliance Accelerate Development of the Carrier Grade Base Platform COTS Ecosystem

AMC Port Map Gap-Analysis and ATCA profile v2.0 now available at www.scope-alliance.org

Piscataway, New Jersey, July 31, 2007 - The SCOPE Alliance, an association of leading Network Equipment Providers (NEPs), is pleased to announce the availability of two new documents; the AMC Port Map Gap-Analysis and ATCA profile version 2.0. The release of these two important documents along with the existing profiles provides unique guidance to the COTS ecosystem; they collectively are shaping the future of Carrier Grade Base Platforms.

The AMC Port Map Gap-Analysis is a recommendation by the leading NEPs of how the 21 serial lines on an AMC connector should be implemented in both AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA. Lower unit, development and life cycle costs are the ultimate goals of the entire supply chain. SCOPE publications such as the AMC Port Map Gap-Analysis and ATCA profile are intended to guide both suppliers and consumers towards an interoperable implementation.

The new ATCA 2.0 profile builds on the foundation laid with version 1.0 released last year. As expected, version 1.0 generated much discussion and feedback. This feedback, along with continued analysis by the SCOPE Alliance, has culminated in the version 2.0 of the profile. Version 2.0 of the profile adds significant detail to version 1.0 and identifies perceived gaps in the ATCA specification for PICMG to consider. This profile is expected to help accelerate the availability of compatible and interoperable building blocks resulting in easy to integrate Carrier Grade Base Platforms.

“The leading NEPs along with SCOPE’s contributor members reviewed the ATCA v1.0 profile and worked to improve it in terms of clarity and completeness.” said Paul Steinberg a Motorola Fellow, Motorola Home & Networks Mobility. “the resulting version of the profile (2.0) is one of our most comprehensive profiles to date and will make a real difference in the industry.”

The AMC Port Map Gap-Analysis and the ATCA profile version 2.0 are available immediately and interested parties may view and download these documents at the document area of SCOPE Alliance website at http://www.scope-alliance.org/technical-documents
